EUTAW: TS Police Support League, Inc. (www.greenecountylawenforcement.org) donated $25000.00 to Stillman College Jazz Band after their performance at the City of Eutaw Christmas parade on Thursday, December 1. The funds will be used to help underwrite the band’s upcoming trip to perform at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. “We are proud to support the Stillman Jazz Band, and are especially pleased that they have been invited to perform at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.,” stated TS Police Support League President Sheila H. Smith. J. W. McFarland, Jr., league Secretary/Treasurer, said, “The Stillman College Jazz Band is a fine ambassador for West Alabama, and we are grateful to be able to support their travels thanks to Amendment 743 charity bingo funds.” Accepting the donation was Stillman Jazz Band Director Mr. Robert Baxter.
4th Annual Great Turkey Giveaway a Success!
On Saturday, November 19, the Fourth Annual Great Turkey Giveaway was held by TS Police Support League, Inc. in partnership with Greene County Sheriff Jonathan “Joe” Benison at the Jail Parking Lot. 1500 frozen turkeys were distributed at a cost of over $43,000.00 TS Police Support League President Sheila Smith said, “We are blessed to be able to continue to provide for the citizens of Greene County. Without electronic bingo funds, none of our gifts would be possible.” TS Police Support League Secretary/ Treasurer J. W. McFarland, Jr. said, “We must keep the GREEN in GREENE County. Save Amendment 743 and Happy Thanksgiving!”
TSPSLI and SHERIFF BENISON HOLD ANNUAL GREAT TURKEY GIVEAWAY IN EUTAW
EUTAW: Despite soaring meat prices, the TS Police Support League will donate 1,500 turkeys to the citizens on Greene County on Saturday, November 19 at 10 AM. This tradition, started by the League and Greene County Sheriff Jonathan “Joe” Benison, has become a special way that the county kicks off the Holiday season. This year’s giveaway will again be held at the county jail parking lot. “No matter our challenges and struggles, we are continuing to provide for the people of Greene County, as long as the Lord allows” said TS Police Support League Inc. President Sheila H. Smith. “Electronic bingo keeps the GREEN in GREENE County; Merry Christmas!” stated J. W. McFarland, Jr., League Secretary-Treasurer.
TSPSLI Sponsors Annual Trunk-or-Treat event at Carver Middle School
EUTAW: In collaboration with the Greene County Sheriff’s office and the City of Eutaw, the TS Police Support League provided giveaways for the annual Trunk-Or-Treat, held at Carver Middle School on Monday, October 31. Hundreds of local youth joined Sheriff Jonathan “Joe” Benison and other community leaders for a safe and fun way to celebrate Halloween. “The youth are our future, and we are proud to continue to support them here in Greene County,” stated Sheila H. Smith, President of the league. “Please remember that electronic bingo improves the quality of life for West Alabama,” said J. W. McFarland, Jr., TSPSL Secretary/ Treasurer.
TS Police Support League sponsors UAB Blazer Bolt for Brain Cancer
TS Police Support League, Inc. sponsored the annual Blazer Bolt for Brain
Cancer Awareness in Birmingham on October 15, 2022. This annual run/ walk and 5K event provides direct support for patients and their families who are treated at the University of Alabama Birmingham and Children’s Hospital of Alabama for Primary Brain cancer. In 2021, $42,0000 was raised by this initiative.
TS Police Support League President Sheila Smith stated, “Brain cancer strikes many families in the Black Belt every year. We are proud to support this program that provides help to those in need.” TS Police Support League Secretary/ Treasurer J. W. McFarland, Jr., who participated with his family in the 1 mile fun run/walk, stated, “Earlier this year, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Thanks to Dr. Fisher and the outstanding team at UAB Wallace Tumor Institute, I have been blessed with a full recovery. I am proud of our support for this project. Without Alabama Constitutional Amendment 743 and the electronic bingo system overseen by Greene County Sheriff Jonathan “Joe” Benison, this sponsorship would not be possible. #Save743!”
TS POLICE SUPPORT LEAGUE AWARDS $2000.00 UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA SCHOLARSHIP TO GREENE COUNTY STUDENT
EUTAW, AL: TS Police Support League, Inc. presented local college freshman Amber Parham with a $2,000.00 scholarship to be used towards her criminal justice/ prelaw undergraduate degree from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Ms. Parham graduated in May from Greene County High School in Eutaw, and plans to attend law school after graduation. TS Police Support League President Sheila Hann Smith stated, “Education unlocks doors for Black Belt students, and we are proud to support Ms. Parham in her studies.” TS Police Support League Secretary-Treasurer J. W. McFarland, Jr., himself a 2007 graduate of The University of Alabama with a B.A. in Criminal Justice, stated, “We must work especially hard to Save Amendment 743, which is under attack in Montgomery. Who will make these donations to our community if we are eliminated? Save 743 and the electronic bingo system operated by Greene County Sheriff Jonathan ‘Joe’ Benison.”

President Sheila Hann Smith presented a check for $1000.00 to The Renaissance Theater, to be used for upcoming programming at the historic Eutaw Theatre building. Smith stated, “Community is so important, and we are happy to provide this sponsorship funding to bring people to downtown Eutaw.” TS Police Support League Secretary/ Treasurer J. W. EUTAW: TS Police Support League, Inc. DBA Palace Bingo Live recently purchased new warmup suits for every member of the Greene County High School Varsity Football Team. These suits arrived just in time for the football season, and the Tigers were excited to receive the donation. League President Sheila Smith said, “We are honored to continue our support of the Greene County Tigers, and look forward to a successful season this fall.” League Secretary/ Treasurer J. W. McFarland, Jr. stated, “Amendment 743, administered by Sheriff Jonathan ‘Joe’ Benison, is the reason we are able to continue to support this community. These funds will supplement the fuel charges incurred by the Department, and have been made monthly on an ongoing basis. League Treasurer Billy McFarland stated, "We look forward to continue to partner with Mayor Latasha Johnson, Chief Tommy Johnson, and all Eutaw Police Department officers and staff to benefit citizens for a better Greene County.
