TS Police Support League Provides Support for new Forkland Youth Center

KNOXVILLE, AL: TS Police Support League, Inc President Sheila Smith presented a check for $10,000.00 to Town of Forkland Mayor Charles McAlpine at the new Palace Live Bingo today to support the town’s new youth activity center. The center, recently constructed, will be outfitted with educational resources, technology learning tools, and interactive games. Mrs. Smith said, “Without Constitutional 743 and electronic bingo funds, this donation would not be possible.” TS Police Support League Secretary/ Treasurer Billy McFarland stated, “Thanks to Sheriff Jonathan “Joe” Benison for the opportunity to serve greater Greene County.”

TS Police Support League Doubles Size of Summer Jobs Program for Youth

EUTAW: TS Police Support League (www.greencountylawenforcement.org) has doubled the size of its annual summer youth jobs program from 50 to 100 effective immediately, stated President Sheila H. Smith. “With the economy slowing and the need for summer jobs in business, government, and other sectors for youth skyrocketing, we are pleased to make this additional investment in our local students.” The program will employ 50 students in June and another 50 in July, and will include both private and public sector employers who are participating in the program. TS Police Support League Secretary/ Treasurer J. W. McFarland said, “Thanks to Sheriff Jonathan ‘Joe’ Benison; without his support and that of electronic bingo, this expansion would not be happening. We also thank every employer that is once again choosing to participate in this important program for our youth.” TS Police Support League is proud to announce that the Hon. TS Police Support League Makes Emergency Donation to Greene County Ambulance

EUTAW: TS Police Support League, Inc. President Sheila H. Smith presented a check for $10,000.00 to the Greene County Emergency Medical Service on Friday, May 20, for the purposes of preserving ambulance service for the people of Greene County. Smith said, “We have previously donated $10000 in cash as well as $105,000 to renovate an ambulance; today’s gift extends our commitment to supporting the healthcare needs of Greene County’s citizens.” TS Police Support League Secretary/ Treasurer J. W. McFarland, Jr., said “Without electronic bingo funds provided by Constitutional Amendment 743 and the opportunity to serve afforded us by Greene County Sheriff Jonathan “Joe” Benison, gifts like these would not be possible.”

TS Police Support League, Inc. Donates $36,000.00 to Eutaw Elderly Village For Eloise Brown Memorial Pavilion

EUTAW: On Tuesday, May 3, TS Police Support League presented a check in the amount of $36,000.00 to pay for the construction of a new pavilion to serve the residents of the Eutaw Elderly Village. This long-needed amenity will allow residents to enjoy the outside during the summer while providing a shady place to rest. The pavilion project was named in memory of deceased Greene County Resident Eloise Brown, who recently passed away. Ms. Brown was known as a devout Christian and astute businesswoman. “Constitutional Amendment 743 specifically, and electronic charity bingo generally, are under attack in Montgomery. Without it, gifts like this will stop. Does anyone really think the Poarch Creek Indians will bridge the gap for Greene County?” asked J. William McFarland, Jr., TS Police Support League Secretary/ Treasurer. “Sheriff Jonathan ‘Joe’ Benison afforded the TSPSLI this opportunity to give back. Without his support, none of these donations would be possible,” said TS Police Support League President Sheila Smith.

TSPSL Provides Support For New Eutaw Storm Shelter

EUTAW: The TS Police Support League, Inc. (www.greenecountylawenforcement.org) presented a $10,000.00 check to the Black Belt Community Foundation to provide matching funds for a Storm Shelter grant project in the City of Eutaw. When complete, the new shelter will provide area families with a safe place to gather in the event of severe weather. TS Police Support League President Sheila Smith said, “Springtime in West Alabama reminds us that tornados are a serious and recurring threat to our region. We are proud to be able to assist this worthy project come to fruition.” TS Police Support League Secretary/ Treasurer Billy McFarland said, “Electronic Bingo funds from Alabama Constitutional Amendment 743 enable important donations like these to continue. Without the opportunity granted us by Sheriff Jonathan “Joe” Benison, this donation would not be possible.”

TS Police Support League Continues Support for Greene County EMS

EUTAW: TS Police Support League, Inc. (www.greenecountylawenforcement.org) donated $10,000.00 to the Greene County Emergency Medical Service today in an ongoing partnership to make certain that ambulance service will continue to be available 24/7 to the citizens of Greene County. TSPSLI President Sheila Smith, joined by Sheriff Jonathan “Joe” Benison, presented the check to Greene County EMS Board member Dr. Marcia Pugh. President Smith noted, “This is the third time that the League has provided major support for the ambulance service, and we are happy to do so again in order to make certain that this service, and the Greene County Hospital, continue to thrive.” TSPSLI Secretary/ Treasurer J. W. McFarland said, “We only wish that we could contribute more, but we are having to spend thousands of dollars in Montgomery fighting the Indian monopoly gaming bill which Senator Bobby Singleton and Representative A. J. McCampbell are supporting. If this bill passes, Amendment 743 electronic bingo in Greene County will be abolished and existing facilities will be forced to close.”

TSPSLI supports Alabama State Trooper Association

MONTGOMERY: TS Police Support League President Sheila Smith presented a check for $1000.00 to the Alabama State Trooper Association, marking the third consecutive year of sponsorship.  This gift will be used towards underwriting the cost of life insurance for every Alabama State Trooper, along with other outreach programs such as teddy bears for injured kids at Christmas.  Smith said, “We are honored to continue this partnership and collaboration with the ASTA.”  League Secretary-Treasurer Billy McFarland said, “We must work to save Alabama Constitutional Amendment 743, which makes these gifts possible through the electronic bingo license granted us by Greene County Sheriff Joe Benison.”
