TS Police Support League Provides Summer Meals for Greene County Kids

EUTAW: TS Police Support League, Inc. made a $1000.00 donation to be used towards summer meals for low and moderate income Greene County children via the Eutaw Housing Authority’s annual summer nutrition program. State support for the annual initiative was slashed this year, but charity bingo funds were made available to support this worthy project. Housing Authority Director Mollie Rowe accepted the donation from TSPSLI President Sheila Hann Smith.

TSPSLI Continues Partnership with Stillman College Choir

TS Police Support League, Inc. recently donated $2300.00 to provide the Stillman College Choir with needed warm-up suits, which will be used during their travel engagements such as a recent concert performed in Dallas Texas (see attached photo). 

“We are happy to continue our support of the Stillman College Chior, who serve as outstanding ambassadors for the West Alabama region,” stated Sheila Hann Smith, TSPSLI President and Stillman College Trustee.

“Charity bingo funding from local Constitutional Amendment 743 provides resources for this and many other philanthropic endeavors,” stated J. W. McFarland, Jr., TSPSLI Secretary/ Treasurer. 

TSPSL Gives Back to the Community

 

EUTAW: On Monday, February 12, 2024 TS Police Support League, Inc. donated $1000 to the Knoxville Storm Shelter, $1000 to the Jena Storm Shelter, and $1000 for Union Volunteer Fire Department.

The donation to Knoxville will be used to pay for a handicap ramp to be placed at the Knoxville Storm Shelter.  The donation to Jena will be used for a handicap ramp to be placed at the Jena Storm Shelter.  The donation to Union will be used for operational costs and equipment for the Union Volunteer Fire Department.

“We are pleased to make these investments around Greene County that will directly benefit the citizens,” stated Sheila H. Smith, President of the TS Police Support League, Inc.  “Charity bingo funds provide our ability to make these donations, and we thank our partners at Palace Live.” 

TS Police Support League makes Christmas donations to Greene County

On Monday, December 4, TS Police Support League donated $1000 to the Greene County Ambulance Service and $1500 to the Center for Rural Family Development. Both of these organizations provide much-needed services to the community.

Each of these organizations have received multiple donations from the league in the past.

“Despite many challenges we are currently facing, TSPSL is pleased to make these donations to give back to the community at Christmas,” stated Sheila Smith, President of the league.

TS Police Support League, Inc. Continues Great Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway! Held at Palace Live at 10:00 AM on Saturday, 11/18

For the 5th Consecutive year, TS Police Support League, Inc. will sponsor the annual Great Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway. This year, the event will be held at the parking lot of The Palace Live charity bingo, located at 106 Old Patton Road in Knoxville. One turkey per Greene County family. Additional turkeys will be available for first responders from selected adjacent Black Belt counties.

TS Police Support League Donates for Tornado Shelter Improvements

EUTAW: The TS Police Support League, Inc. presented a donation for $3500.00 to the

Mantua-Lewiston Volunteer Fire Department to be used to paint and make other improvements

to the new Community Tornado Shelter located adjacent to the fire station.

“Alabama springtime is just around the corner, and that means the threat of severe tornadic

weather activity. We want to be sure that the Mantua-Lewiston Tornado Shelter is in top shape

and ready to serve the citizens,” stated Sheila Hann Smith, TSPSLI President.

“I commend Mrs. Lucy Spann and the entire Mantua-Lewiston VFD team for working hard to

make ready this important shelter facility. Only thanks to Sheriff Benison and charity bingo

funds from Amendment 743 are such donations possible,” said J. W. McFarland, Jr., TSPSLI

TS Police Support League Sponsors National Night Out

EUTAW: TS Police Support League again sponsored National Night Out in Eutaw, an annual event that brings the community and law enforcement together. “We are proud to again support our law enforcement professionals, as they risk their lives to protect the community,” stated Sheila Hann Smith, President of TSPSL, Inc. “Thanks to Sheriff Benison and charity bingo, these funds and supplies were made available at this important community event,” stated J. W. McFarland, Jr., Secretary/ Treasurer of TSPSL, Inc.

TS Police Support League Inc. Boosts Town of Forkland Youth Center

EUTAW: TS Police Support League, Inc. presented a check for $10,000.00 to Town of Forkland Mayor Charles McAlpine. These funds will be used to equip the new Town of Forkland Youth Center, and is the league’s second donation in support of this important project. “The youth of Greene County are our future. Thanks to the vision of Forkland, area youth have a safe and constructive place to meet, and we are happy to continue our support of this initiative,” said Sheila Hann Smith, President of TSPSLI. “The Town of Forkland is an innovative community, with many important community and economic development initiatives underway. Charity bingo provides resources for Greene County. Without it, these resources disappear,” said J. W. McFarland, Jr. TSPSLI Secretary/Treasurer. “Save Amendment 743!”

TS Police Support League Sponsors Greene County Health Fair

EUTAW: TS Police Support League, Inc. presented a check for $500.00 to the Greene County Health System on Monday, August 28 to sponsor their upcoming health fair, to be held on Wednesday, October 4 at 10:00 AM at Branch Heights Community Center.

“The Greene County Health System is a vital component of our community, and we are pleased to continue our support of their important community health efforts,” stated Sheila Gene Smith, President of the League. She continued, “We encourage Greene County residents to take advantage of the many services offered by the Greene County Health System.”

“Without charity bingo and Amendment 743, there will likely be no health system in Greene County.  It is imperative that we support the continuation of ambulance and hospital services in Greene County,” said J. W. McFarland, Jr., League Secretary/ Treasurer.

TS Police Support League Donates Uniforms for Knoxville Back to School

EUTAW: On Thursday, July 27, TS Police Support League, Inc. President Sheila Hann Smith

presented a $10,000.00 check to the Knoxville Community Center to be used to provide

free school uniforms to low and moderate income students in the community.

“Knoxville is home to Palace Live Charity Bingo, and we are excited to give back to this

important community,” Smith stated during the presentation.

“Charity bingo, as provided for in local Constitutional Amendment 743, makes resources such as

these available for Greene County. Sadly, the Amendment is under attack by the State of

Alabama Legislature and Attorney General. Join us as we fight to Save 743!” said J. William

McFarland, Jr., League Secretary/ Treasurer.
